Five ways to take delivery
The only real question at the start of a shipment is how far you want someone else to carry it. These five answers cover almost every importer we work with.
Warehouse delivery in China
Delivery to the warehouse you nominate in China. Our part ends when the goods are handed over there and receipted.
FOB — Free On Board
We deliver the goods on board the vessel for the destination you specify, released to the consignee you name.
CF — Cost and Freight
The cost of the goods and the freight are billed to you as one arrangement. The cargo travels without insurance cover.
CIF — Cost, Insurance and Freight
The cost of the goods, the freight and the cargo insurance are all billed to you, so a loss in transit is covered rather than argued about.
DtD — Door to Door
We carry the goods through to the final address you nominate. Nothing at the destination is left for you to arrange.
Why importers work this way
One term, one price, one person to ask
Most of what goes wrong in freight happens where responsibility changes hands and nobody wrote down exactly where that was.
The term is written down
Before anything moves, you have it in writing: what is included, what is not, and the exact point where the goods become yours to look after.
Origin handled at origin
The goods are received and checked in China, not first inspected when the container is opened at the other end.
One contact, not a queue
The same person answers about the quote, the loading and the delivery. No ticket numbers, no being passed on.
The price you agreed
The figure quoted under a term is the figure invoiced for it. If something we should have included turns up later, it is ours to absorb.
How an order runs
Five stages, and you know where you are in all of them
The delivery term you choose decides where stage five ends. Everything before it runs the same way whichever term you take.

The goods, the quantity, the destination and the delivery term you have in mind. If you are not sure which term fits, say so and we will tell you what the difference costs.

We come back with the term and the price
In writing, stating exactly what is included and where our responsibility ends. Nothing moves until you have agreed it.

Goods into the warehouse in China
The goods are received at origin, checked against what was ordered and held until there is enough for the shipment to move.

The main leg
Loading and departure, with the documents made out as the agreed term requires. You get the shipping details as soon as we have them.

Handover on the agreed term
At the warehouse in China, on board the vessel, at the destination port or at your final address — whichever term you chose at the start.

A shipping partner you agree terms with, not a brochure
Importing from China goes wrong in predictable places: the goods are bought on one basis, the freight booked on another, and nobody can say who is responsible for the container sitting at the port. We work the other way round — the delivery term is settled first, in writing, and the price follows from it.
